Irina has an extensive background working with young adults and their families, and has been participating in the Vanderburgh House community for many years, helping the young men recover. Colby is a graduate of the program and has been involved with the community for over four years. He is passionate about recovery and strives for helping anyone he comes in contact with find their own passion for their recovery and their lives. He’s had experience night managing at New Life East for 6 months as well as weekend managing at East for about 9 months as well. Colby enjoys making new connections with everyone he meets, and has positive outlook on life.

I was proud to re-establish the White House Council on Native American Affairs to help coordinate policy. Together, we have taken historic steps to improve the consultation process between Federal agencies and Tribal Nations. Adolescents receive the treatment they need for mental health disorders and addiction, with the added support of educational and vocational services. He prides himself being a part of the community, as well as being a part of the guys lives. He strives to create the same environment that he experienced so that can be the case for others.

And recognizing the ties of Indigenous peoples across North America, I supported a Trilateral Working Group with Canada and Mexico to ensure Indigenous women and girls in all three countries can live free from violence. A Vanderburgh House alumni, Howard went back to college and underwent CADC training in recovery. He has spoken on panels, in treatment centers, community centers, schools, with parents, students, teachers, law enforcement and mental health providers to give insight on issues that are impacting young people today. He works closely with the Vanderburgh House families and the management staff, helping to keep things innovative, add additional services for the guys, and deal with all of the logistics of running the Vanderburgh House programs.
It is helping Tribal communities lead in the transition to clean energy and mitigate the impact of droughts, wildfires, and rising sea levels that threaten Native lives and precious homelands. My Administration has also provided increased resources to fight the opioid epidemic and expand access to crisis care in Tribal communities. Given that Native American women are two times more likely to die of pregnancy-related causes than White women, my Administration has taken significant steps to improve maternal health.
In 1994, Perry separated the age groups and opened a second sober living house for men in the Torrance, California area to accommodate the older adults. Vanderburgh House’s success in working with young men began to take off once the guys began living with their own peers. Founded in San Pedro by Perry Petacia, Vanderburgh House was formed to directly serve young men in recovery. An alcoholic himself, Perry had been through a recovery center that emphasized identifying and modifying self-sabotaging behavior. Proudly providing a community-driven, structured approach to sobriety for young men and transforming families lives in the South Bay for over 35 years.
He is dual board certified in both adult psychiatry and addiction medicine. Sebastian takes pride in having the opportunity to help young men transform their lives while working with their families.
